Right to Real Love radio, AGAIN!

As I said in my previous post I had the amazing opportunity to feature on a podcast with Jay Mayo! Well, I got the chance to feature on another podcast! It was so much fun.

This time was a little different, this time it was a group discussion. There were two other lovely guests on the show this time. It was great! On the podcast this time we discussed 'Why Kids Keep Secrets from their Parents'. A totally different topic compared to the last time I was on the show in December!

I really enjoyed being on the show this time, I received so much insight on why kids might keep secrets from their parents. It was great for me. I don't tend to keep secrets from my parents (that much) so it was nice listening to why it might happen. The two lovely guests on the show both had kids of their own, so it was fun listening to their previous experiences with their kids keeping secrets from them and how they handled the situation.

If have kids and are unsure on how to handle hearing secrets kept from you for a long time, I advise you to listen:

I hope this gives you guys as much insight as it gave me whilst I was recording the podcast.

Again, thanks Jay! I had so much fun!!

My Right to REAL Love radio experience...

I was suppose to blog about this a long time ago. I was recently given an awesome opportunity. I was a guest speaker on a radio show - Right to REAL Love. Jay, the radio host was so welcoming and was so fun to talk to. He asked me a few questions and I answered them basing them on my previous relationship experiences.

Jay asked me questions about 'Valuable Lessons Learned From Exes'. I had so much fun recording and answering.

Here is the link to the podcast if any of you would like to hear it:
righttoreallove.com/lessons-learned-from-exes/

There are so many more podcasts. I love listening to them and hearing what other people would do in situations that I have previously been in or what to do if I am ever in certain scenarios. The podcasts on Right to REAL Love radio aren't all about love and relationships, Jay covers lots of different topics from friend situations to work situations.

One of my personal favourite podcasts from Right to REAL Love radio is 'Follow Your Dreams and Let Go of Broken Dreams'. (righttoreallove.com/follow-your-dreams/) I really liked listening to this podcast. I am currently at University studying journalism. My personal reason to be paying all of this money and going through the stress of moving to a whole different city is to follow my dreams and hopefully successfully gain a full-time career in my chosen industry. Sometimes the work you get given to do from your tutors at university can be hard, almost to the point where all you want to do is give up. Listening to podcasts like this gives me so much positivity to keep going and carry on doing my best to achieve my goals. Sometimes all it takes is someone else to give you that push and that bit of advice to let you know you are capable of things you thought you would have no chance in doing.

I am so happy to say that Jay invited me to feature on another podcast on Right to REAL Love radio. I will be talking about something totally different this time and i really cannot wait. My life long career goal is to be a radio broadcaster and to be given opportunities like this is amazing. I can't wait to share my next podcast!

Watch this space!!

Sorry for the Wait.

I am so disappointed in myself.

I was suppose to write a new blog post every week. That failed.

I was suppose to apply for jobs in the sector I would like to have a future career in. That also failed, miserably.

I just haven't been onit recently. But it's summer soon and I'll be back living at home until my second year of Uni starts again which only means one thing... I'll have no life! That way I won't have any excuse BUT to update my blog regularly.

So, since my last 'life' blog update I have almost finished my first year of University. I cannot believe how fast it has gone. I remember before I started everyone told me that it was going to go fast. But, I don't even feel like I have moved out of my house yet.

(Maybe that's because I've been home atlas twice nearly every month...)

I am so excited for summer back home. Last summer was great, but this year I'm 18, I guess I'm only that bit more excited because I'm legally allowed to drink alcohol. Wow, reading that back sounds really sad. There is more to my life than just alcohol. Promise.

ANYWHO.

I feel so much more better now I'm in the process of updating my blog. As well as my Mum constantly telling me I have learnt over the past 4 weeks that I am very lazy - in every way you can think of. It's fine, like I said I will start updating regularly. It's all good.

Happy Easter!

Sorry 4 The Wait 2 x Lil' Wayne

20th January 2015. Lil' Wayne made mixtape history. Again.

Wayne released the first Sorry 4 The Wait in 2011. The mixtape title was an apology from Lil’ Wayne for the fans for releasing his album late. It’s the same situation this time round, however Wayne’s record label Cash Money aren’t allowing him to release Tha Carter 5 which is why he produced and released Sorry 4 The Wait 2!

The track list for the mixtape was given to the fans before the tape was available to download.

I love the fact that Lil’ Wayne uses beats from very well known songs and makes them 10x better than the original song. He used the beat from ‘Coco’, ‘TrapHouse’, ‘No Type’, ‘Drunk in Love’, ‘Hot Nigga’ and a few more. All of which are well known with catchy hooks and Wayne still murders all the beats with his bars.

This mixtape got a lot of positive feedback on twitter. I didn’t see any negative feedback. I was one of the fan girls on twitter declaring how much I love him and how amazing his mixtape is – obviously. No shame.

I’ve noticed that on this mixtape Tune spits more about “where I’m [he’s] at” rather than spit about females. But, don’t get me wrong; he does spit about girls, a lot. As the majority of people know that Wayne and his ‘Father figure’ Birdman are having problems right now. Wayne took it to twitter to express his anger explaining to his 20+ million followers that he and his creativity are “prisoners”. When I first seen the tweets I thought he’d been hacked because he spelt simple words correctly and he never does that.

My favourite song from Sorry 4 The Wait 2 is Try Me featuring Mack Maine. I love the word play he has with the name of songs from other songs. “Tunechi what’s your fuckin’ problem? I got fuckin’ problems. Bad bitch on top of me, she started from the bottom.” Both songs that he referenced are Drake songs. I love it when he gets personal.

I will be blogging more. Promise.

Song Review: Start A Fire x Lil' Wayne ft. Christina Millian

SO!

My favourite rapper of all time, Lil' Wayne recently performed his latest Carter 5 single release 'Start a Fire' featuring Christina Millian [Wayne's supposed girlfriend]. He performed this at the 2014 American Music Awards.

I think that this particular record is pretty different to Lil' Wayne's previous songs that have been released from Tha Carter 5. The hook sang by Christina Millian breaks the record down a lot, and the fact that Wayne refers to his "Mamma" when rapping gives the record a softer feel than other songs.

First of all the performance where the song was first heard. I think Wayne could've made more of an effort with his performance, and I think we've all established he cannot sing, which is fine because he's a rapper, but I respect him for trying. Then again I can't really say much for Christina either, she can sing, but not live. I sound like I'm hating, I'm not. I love what Christina wore though, she looked very classy. I'm guessing she wore a Jhene Aiko inspired outfit, she looked cute! She has a really nice figure, which she showed off in the outfit she wore. I'm glad she didn't dress like a typical 'video hoe'.

My favourite song I've heard from Tha Carter 5 so far. 'Believe Me' featuring Drake was released first that was a good taster I think. It was good because it wasn't just about women and sex, it was about where Wayne and Drake are in the rap game right now. Then Wayne released Krazy. Again this song was great because it wasn't about women and sex, and it was only Wayne on this song, so all the credit went to him, solely him. After Krazy, Wayne dropped 'Grindin' the title is pretty self explanatory. This song featured Drake, I didn't like this song as much as 'Believe Me', maybe because 'Believe Me' was the first song that came out so my heart was set. Another song release on the 28th October when Tha Carter 5 was set to be released was, 'Gotti' although slight change up, Drake wasn't featured on this song, The Lox were however.  Then the latest song 'Start a Fire' was released. I'm glad that Wayne has decided to give Tha Carter 5 some promotion before releasing the full album, if you're a deep fan you'll know Waynes's not very known to promote many of his albums, concerts. It's just a Lil' Wayne thing.

Now, the song! I really like this song. It was like when I first heard 'How to Love' it was so different, and i guess if you look back to previous Lil' Wayne songs then 'Start a Fire' isn't so different, but it is very different compared to recent Lil' Wayne songs. I like how the verses are short, and they have the same flow as each other, it makes the whole song glue so well. And Christina's hook fixes the whole song. I feel like the song is very heartfelt, this could be because Wayne and Christina are dating.

I better stop before I get jealous. I do like this song, very much. I know a lot of people doubt Wayne, but I have a feeling Tha Carter 5 is going to be the Lil' Wayne comeback album from Tha Carter 3.

I just realised this wasn't much of a song review, more of an excuse to talk about Lil' Wayne. Great.

Men in-control? Not.

It was recently on the news that a woman walked for 10 hours through Manhattan - New York, in a plain black t-shirt and jeans on and had over 100 men verbally and physically harassing her.

"Somebody is acknowledging you for being beautiful - you should say thank you."
"Damn"
"Hey baby"
"God bless you mami."
One man even walked close by her for 5 whole minutes.

I heard about this on BBC Newsbeat, a 15 minute news update that comes on Radio 1xtra throughout the day. On the radio there was a news reporter asking other males in the UK whether they found this behaviour from fellow males to be normal. One of the men asked the reporter, how the woman was presenting herself, the reporter told him what she was wearing and whether that mattered, "it can draw attention, can't it" he said.
Another builder stated "you know what men are like" and when told to elaborate, he put it down to "bad manners"

I find this disgusting. I find the whole on-going situation disgusting.

I am an 18 year old female, living in London. And I get approached by men mainly in the evening however, they don't physically harass me, but they will approach me. They try to find out why I'm in London, the University I attend, my age just personal information about me. Luckily, it's easy to lie, and I'm able to handle myself. That doesn't mean every female can. And females shouldn't have to deal with those situations when all they're trying to do is mind their own business.

I don't like the fact that some men feel that they have authority over females. This can be down to a lot of things; up bringing, culture or simply taking after someone. Not that any of these reasons make this behaviour right, in the slightest. I personally believe that when males are brought up a certain manner whether it be by a man or a woman, they're brought up to believe that they're higher than women - authority wise, this will then lead them to always believe that they have power over females. This is wrong. I'm sure I'm not the only person who thinks that everyone should be treated equally, atleast to an extent. This links in with culture, for example, I'm a Hindu, and in my culture women are often presented inferior to men. "A girl is governed by her father, a married woman by her husband, a widow by her sons." I agree with this statement to an extent. I agree that women are suppose to be looked after by their father, husband and sons, not because she needs to be looked after by them, but it's a nice sense of security. I don't agree with this statement if it was meant to mean that women are suppose to tend to the needs of their fathers, husbands and sons. Of course, when both of your parents are of an old age, you look after them, and if your husband and/or sons weren't well then you'd tend to their needs as much as you can.

All of the above is easily changed. And is all dependant on what your personal morals are. Some women do believe they are there to tend for the men in their life, and if they're happy with this then that's fine, that's up to them. What I think is wrong, is when men think that they should be seen to by the women in their life.

Back to the 10 hour walk through New York by the woman and the responses the BBC reporter received. I understand sometimes when someone wears something eye catching, you're going to stare, I do it too. But I don't think it should be interpreted as an invitation to be approached. I believe you should be allowed to dress however you want to dress, people use the way they dress to express themselves, and I think they should be allowed to do this without unwanted verbal and physical attention. I can't seem to understand why people pass verbal judgement to others when it has nothing to do with them. It's just unnecessary and rude.

Another matter I recently read up on was the "Melton dad who repeatedly raped his five-year-old daughter". Reading this made my stomach churn. You know those moments when you're reading or watching something and it has you shouting at your screen out of frustration? That's what I was doing. In the report I read on the Leicester Mercury website, "the paedophile callously blamed his wife for his offending – claiming her disregard for his needs made him commit atrocities with his little daughter" It makes me physically sick that he ended up blaming his wife for not tending to his needs, again, women/wives are not there to solely tend to the needs of their husbands/partners. But the fact that he thought the conclusion to his problem was to sexually abuse his daughter, is baffling. I can't seem to wrap my head around how he could even go through with doing this to a little girl, despite it being his own child. Horrible.

I could go on and on ranting about how much I despise men like this, but I physically cannot type anymore, I'm feeling too angry.

Links below if you want to read up on situations discussed above. Thanks for reading.

Diwali, for everyone!

Diwali
dɪˈwɑːli/
noun
a Hindu festival with lights, held in the period October to November. It is particularly associated with Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity, and marks the beginning of the financial year in India.

Diwali is a Hindu festival also known to fellow Indian's as 'Deepavali' also known as the 'Festival of Light' to everybody else.

I've never been a big Hindu festival celebrator in the past, however growing up I've come to realise how fun, getting together with family and friends to celebrate festivals can be. This year I've decided to be as involved as I can with the festivities, to learn more about it, also for the nice food.

Mainly for the nice food.

I wanted to find out more about the festival for myself, I did some research and the more and more I learnt about Diwali I realised that it isn't just a festival for Hindu's, it's a festival that can relate to everyone who believes in what Diwali spiritually signifies.

"Triumph of good over evil, of righteousness over treachery, of truth over falsehood, and of light over darkness."

I think as long as you believe in this way of thinking, Diwali can relate to everyone and anyone. Any religion, any race. There are a lot more ways to celebrate Diwali aside from the belief side of it, it's a fun festival, Rangoli patterns are painted outside houses and fireworks are lit to celebrate the Indian New Year, lamps and candles are lit and placed around the house.

Of course there more in depth meanings to Diwali, and it means a lot more to some people than others. In order to get ready for Diwali; houses are cleaned, certain foods are made and new clothes are worn. All of which work to my advantage, any excuse to eat and buy new clothes.

The Festival of Lights.
All of the Hindu God's have different meanings, for Diwali Lakshmi, Goddess of Wealth are honored the most. Lamps are lit in and outside people’s houses to guide Lakshmi, Goddess of Wealth into their homes. Prayers are said to the Goddess in order for a successful year ahead. And I'm paying £9k a year for tuition fees, so we all know who I'll be praying to in the next few days.

I wanted to write this post for insight for myself as well as for others, I think it's important to share one another's festivals with each other, celebrating together is always more fun. And I can't stress how good the food is around this time of year.

Happy eating and Happy Diwali everybody!
